FAQ about the Mesh Integration System.

What is a mesh integration system?
This system is built around individual needs and each system is different according to each client’s situation. Your own hair is integrated with the system hair through a fine medical grade mesh personalised to the client’s head shape giving the illusion of natural hair growth. Then hair wefts are added to the mesh to completely disguise hair loss with a natural looking handmade parting to finish. The system encourages hair growth underneath the mesh by allowing the scalp to breathe.

Who can have a mesh integration system?
Hair systems are perfect for ladies suffering from female pattern baldness, post pregnancy hair thinning or loss, stress related hair loss, thyroid disease, hair thinning, various forms of alopecia, trichotillomania, hair loss due to certain medications and women who have had chemo treatment or radiotherapy causing their hair to fall out. Each person suffering hair loss has her own personal situation and I aim to make your transformation as easy and as natural as possible, depending on the severity of hair loss. The system can be as big or as small as needed. The system can only be used in hair longer than 3 inches and a minimum of 30% natural hair coverage.

What happens to my hair underneath the hair system?
If your hair follicles are dormant, wearing the system will not stimulate any growth. When you are having the system maintained you may notice some shedding. This is completely normal. After 6-9 weeks any dead hair will have secured in, even when natural shedding occurs. The hair has nowhere to go until we release the connections for it to do so. Your hair and scalp will remain healthy under the system, as long as you follow all the aftercare recommended.

How long does it take to fit the system?
This varies on a case to case basis but we can discuss this at your consultation so you can be well prepared.

What will happen at my consultation?
I am very aware that this may be a very emotional and sometimes difficult, subject to talk about so I aim to make you feel as comfortable, relaxed and at ease as much as possible, I will ask you various in depth questions, some of which will be of a personal nature. Please be assured that all consultations are completely private and confidential. However, I need to ask these questions to be able to create the most bespoke system that will work perfectly for you. We will discuss the style/colour/length that you would like and I will answer any questions you may have. We will then discuss aftercare and maintenance so you feel confident when leaving that you have a good understanding of the system, how to look after your hair and how it can make your daily life that little bit easier.

How long will my system last?
Depending on how well you look after your hair, the approximate amount of shampoos and maintenance of the hair and the system can be expected to last 12months. Replacement mesh may be required sooner than this though due to tension which would be at an additional cost to the client.

How do I wash my system?
You wash your system exactly as you would do your natural hair. We recommend using specialist shampoos and conditioners to enhance the life of your hair. After washing, you will need to dry your hair and make sure it is completely dry to prevent tangling. Using heat protection on your hair is strongly advised before using heated styling tools on your hair.

What mesh do you use?
I use a hypoallergenic lace mesh which is incredibly strong. It is specifically created for wig making and hair integration systems. The holes make it breathable and easy to dry and keep clean.

What hair do you use in the system?
Russian human hair. This hair is the best on the market and will last 12-18months with correct aftercare.

What activities should I avoid when wearing my system ? Your new look is extremely versatile and you can continue to enjoy all the activities you have always done after the system is fitted.

What products should I use on my system?
I recommend using sulphate and paraben-free shampoo and conditioner and heat protection products when using heat on your hair.

How often do I need to come back for maintenance?
The recommended maintenance for the system is every 6 weeks to allow the mesh to stay securely attached and the hair looking as good as possible. At this appointment, we replace all of the micro rings and sew any wefts that have become less secure. Every 6 months the system must be realigned. This means the system must be completely removed, the client’s natural hair gently brushed, shampooed and conditioned,. The hair system is then washed and blow dried and refitted to the client’s hair.

How much will the mesh integration system cost?
Unfortunately, I can’t give a precise figure until we have had your consultation as it’s a bespoke service designed and tailored to each individual.. But the cost of fitting and maintenance would be discussed at your initial consultation.

What does it feel like to wear?
Physically The first few days the system will feel quite tight until it settles in a bit. There is something attached to your head so of course, you will be aware of it but, if you love the system, you will be prepared to live with it and forget your wearing it most of the time. At times it can be itchy so it’s best to get into good practices when washing your system and the products you use. Sleeping in hair integration can take a little time to get used to and you will be more aware of your system in bed than any other time as it’s pressing against the head and adding tension. You may be advised to tie back your hair to prevent tangling. Sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase will help prevent tangling and drying out your hair. Emotionally It’s not uncommon, after the initial elation of having hair again, to change your mind and regret doing it. It can be hard to adjust to a new you and you will think everyone can tell it’s a wig. If installed correctly they look undetectable and incredible but It can be difficult to see past the new you. Allow yourself 2 weeks to adjust to the new system. Usually, after that period most women realise, they love it and it has utterly transformed how they feel about themselves. In fact, it can be very difficult to see it removed again!

I ask all clients to read my Terms & Conditions before they book an appointment for any of my Hair services.
